In short
Ratenggaro is an active Marapu adat village on a low headland in Kodi, Southwest Sumba, where several uma bokul tower houses still stand close together among old stone clan tombs.
- The name is explained locally as "village of the Garo people", after an older group once settled here.
- It is not a museum. Families live here, graze animals, dry corn and hold rituals among the same tombs visitors come to see.
- The tall-peaked houses are also called uma mbatangu, tower houses.
- First stop after lunch on day one, before Pero Beach for sunset.
